Plan of Action Minimum Database Ð CBC, urinalysis Ð rule out infection, anemia, hemmorrhage Bone Radiographs of both hind limbs and pelvis to rule in or out fractures Orthopedic Exam under sedation Ð determine extent of damage Muscle/Tendon/Ligament Orthopedic Exam under sedation Ð determine extent of damage Nerve Neurologic Exam Ð rule in or out nerve damage Additional test should be done to evaluate further damage in the abdomen and chest from trauma. The bladder should be palpated, urine output should be evaluated, and contrast can be used to determine patency of the bladder and its associated structures. Ultrasound and abdominal radiographs can also be used to evaluate abdominal organs such as the spleen, liver, etc. Chest radiographs can be used to determine chest trauma such as traumatic myocarditis. An EKG can also be used to determine heart function.
