Route of Delivery: We chose an enteral feeding through a nasogastric route of delivery for her nutrition support. We did this because she has a functioning GI tract and she would need short-term nutrition support. It should be short term until they plan the discharge and figure out if she is willing to take enough food by mouth, since she is capable of doing so. Another reason we chose this type of feeding is because she does not have risk of aspiration. Nasogastric intubation is also one of the easiest and cheapest types of feedings. Our only concern was the short bowel obstruction. We chose to insert the tube into the stomach because this would give the stomach a chance to digest the food in hopes to prevent constipation.
