Nutrition Regimen

Note:  we used the euhydrated body weight as per class discussion to determine BEE and 
fluid requirements.  

We are going to use Osmolite HN Plus for our patient. The patient needs 1300 kcal per 
day to maintain and replete protein and energy stores, respectively.  This equals 890 ml 
of total free water (formula has 82% total free water.  This information comes from the 
ross standing order handout)

1300/1.2=1083ml/ day

PRO:  45ml/hr x 24 hrs/day x .04 g Pro = 43 g PRO
	We decided to add 2 scoops of promod for an additional 10 g of Pro

There will be six feeding (intermittent feeding) and each feeding will provide 180 mL of 
formula.  To meet total fluid requirements, we are going to flush 89mL of water before 
and after each of the six feedings.  

We decided to use intermittent feeding b/c the patient is not critically ill and if necessary 
the feeding can be continued at home.
