Add Resources to Concepts 9. Add a text file resources to the project: a. To add a text file resource to a text box, the item must be created and saved first and then added to the project. 1) The text file must be saved in text only format with the extension .TXT (Simple Text for the Mac can create these). 2) Save the file in a folder and remember where it is. b. Click on your project in the list under the specified server. c. Click on File in the upper left hand corner of your screen and then Import Resource. d. A box will open listing all of the folders in a specific location on your hard drive. e. Locate the file(s) you wish to add by navigating through the folders. f. Once the file(s) is found, highlight it and click Add. g. If the Resource Type displays "Unknown type," you can click on the down arrow and select the file "Text Document" type from the list. h. Repeat this until all the files you wish to add are in the list. i. To remove a file that was added, highlight the file to remove, and click Remove. j. When finished, click Ok. k. Under the project list on the server, new folders will be created for each type of resource added ("Text"). 10. Add a graphic file resources to the project: a. To add a text file resource to a text box, the item must be created and saved first and then added to the project. 1) The graphic file must be saved as a JPEG or GIF (extension .JPEG or .GIF) (Adobe PhotoShop can create these). 2) Save the file in a folder and remember where it is. b. Click on your project in the list under the specified server. c. Click on File in the upper left hand corner of your screen and then Import Resource. d. A box will open listing all of the folders in a specific location on your hard drive. e. Locate the file(s) you wish to add by navigating through the folders. f. Once the file(s) is found, highlight it and click Add. g. If the Resource Type displays "Unknown type," you can click on the down arrow and select the file "JPEG Image" or "GIF Image" type from the list. h. Repeat this until all the files you wish to add are in the list. i. To remove a file that was added, highlight the file to remove, and click Remove. j. When finished, click Ok. k. Under the project list on the server, new folders will be created for each type of resource added ("Images"). 11. Add a video file resources to the project: a. To add a text file resource to a text box, the item must be created and saved first and then added to the project. 1) The text file must be saved as a AVI, MOV, or MPEG (extension .AVI, .MOV, or .MPEG). 2) Save the file in a folder and remember where it is. b. Click on your project in the list under the specified server. c. Click on File in the upper left hand corner of your screen and then Import Resource. d. A box will open listing all of the folders in a specific location on your hard drive. e. Locate the file(s) you wish to add by navigating through the folders. f. Once the file(s) is found, highlight it and click Add. g. If the Resource Type displays "Unknown type," you can click on the down arrow and select the file "AVI Movie," "Quicktime Movie," or "MPEG Movie" type from the list. h. Repeat this until all the files you wish to add are in the list. i. To remove a file that was added, highlight the file to remove, and click Remove. j. When finished, click Ok. k. Under the project list on the server, new folders will be created for each type of resource added ("Videos"). 12. Add internet resources to the project: a. Click on your project in the list under the specified server. b. Click on File in the upper left hand corner of your screen and then Import Internet Resource. c. A box will open. Enter the "Description", "Caption", and "URL" for the link. d. Make sure the correct server and project are specified. e. Click Ok. f. Repeat this process until all desired links are added to the project. g. Under the project list on the server, a new "URLs" folder will appear. 13. Add resources to the concept map: a. Click on the desired text box to highlight it. b. Click on Edit on the menu bar and then ResourcesÉ c. Click on the folder that contains the file you wish to add d. Select the file to add, and click Add. e. Repeat this until all the files you wish to add are in the list. f. To remove a file that was added, highlight the file to remove, and click Remove. g. When finished, click Ok h. An icon will display under the text box. When the mouse hovers it, the file included will be displayed. 14. To create other concept maps to be included in the process, repeat steps 4 Ð12.
