Orthopedic exam under general anesthesia: A repeat of the complete physical exam is conducted with the patient sedated, allowing for a physical exam without patient resistance or pain response. 2. Blood Exam: Looking for neutrophilia in case inflammation is present, and can also be used in case surgery is needed later on. 3. Radiographic examination: Take both lateral and ventrodorsal views, with standard hip-extension, to assess the hip joints for evidence of subluxation, osteoarthritis, or any other abnormalities.
