Hypothesis 2:  Probable tendon damage

The possibility of a tendon laceration exists as the foal may have been stepped on by the 
mare.  Tendon lacerations generally result from external trauma.  SDF tendon lacerations 
result in a slightly hyperextended fetlock which may be difficult to appreciate if only the 
SDF is lacerated. This injury predisposes the horse to bear weight on the toe.
