Learning issues: 1. Are the respiratory rate of 52 and the pulse of 60 normal for a 2 week old foal? Normal adult resp.rate: 10-16; still need to determine if foal resp.rate is higher; normal pulse in equine less than 1 year: 70-80 2. What causes pitting edema? 3. Which tendons and ligaments are involved in the right hind fetlock? 4. What does toe-touching lameness mean? Extensor portion of suspensory ligaments 5. Which nerves are in the painful area? 6. Do we do the same kind of lameness exam as in adults? Ie: lunge-line, nerve blocks; 7. If we do nuclear scintigraphy, will it damage the foal (growth plates, etc. . .) to administer a radioactive substance?
