_ Swollen right hock Ð pinpoint location
_ 2 week old foal Ð can be congenital or trauma
_ mare may have stepped on leg Ð may have been cause of trauma
_ foal bright and alert Ð not a systemic problem
_ toe touching lame on right rear leg Ð supports right leg injury and shows extent of 
lameness
_ pitting edema starting 12cm proximal to fetlock and extending just distal Ð localizes 
area,  may be important that it is pitting
_ foal resents palpation Ð probably painful
_ no foreign body in foot Ð rules out foreign body
_ after palpation foal was even more lame Ð may be progressive
_ did not resist hoof testers Ð rule out hoof problems
