Client Education:

The dog will be sent home with a Fentanyl  patch as well as Etogesic for analgesia and inflammation.  
The dog will need to be restricted to leash walking for the next six weeks followed by a gradual return to normal activity level.  
Owner should be instructed to monitor the animal for normal urination and defecation
The dog will retain the hardware unless it causes complications at which time it may be surgically removed.
Suggest heartworm prevention as well as rabies and distemper booster.
