Case 2: Diagnosis Right femoral mid-shaft fracture due to the gravitational pull applied to the dog as it plummeted from the bed crashing into the floor one year ago. The traumatic fall led to the initial lameness. Left on its own, bone remodeling took a course less than anatomically desired. This improper healing resulted in abnormal alignment of the quadriceps muscle group. This led to secondary patellar luxation, due to the loss of a straight line from the quadriceps through the patella through the patellar ligament. This is a Grade II patellar luxation. The medial buttressing resulted from chronic instability in the joint and the bodyÕs attempt to stabilize the joint by increasing the thickness of the capsule.
