The SQL language may be considered one of the major reasons for the 
success of relational databases. The relational algebra operations are
too technical for most DBMS users, might be because in relational
algebra, a query is written as a sequence of operations.The name SQL
is derived from Structured Query Language. Originally, SQL was called
SEQUEL and was designed and implemented at IM Research as the
interface for an experimental relational database system.
